Does CoinMarketCap provide up-to-date data only for a fee?
The Ergo project recently reported that, in response to a request to update the data on the circulating supply of their tokens on CoinMarketCap (CMC), they were asked to pay $5000. This request came despite the expectation that CMC, as a service, should have a vested interest in providing accurate information.

The Ergo project recently reported that, in response to a request to update the data on the circulating supply of their tokens on CoinMarketCap (CMC), they were asked to pay $5000. This request came despite the expectation that CMC, as a service, should have a vested interest in providing accurate information.
As a result, Ergo poses a rhetorical question:
…how much overall data is out of sync on CMC for projects that refuse to pay these hostage fees?
Ergo also noted that a similar platform, CoinGecko, does not seem to have such an issue.
