ai16z Is Now Officially Rebranded Into ElizaOS
AI-agent platform ai16z officially rebranded to ElizaOS, Eliza Labs founder Shaw Walters announced in a post on X.
Despite the rebranding, the project's native token will retain the $ai16z ticker for now, with any future changes subject to community votes once the DAO's voting module is launched.
Walters assured stakeholders that there would be no creation of new tokens or alterations to the project's development roadmap, DAO holdings, or governance structure.
“Rebranding as ElizaOS opens exciting doors to collaboration with established players eager to leverage our groundbreaking tech,” the project founder wrote.
Previously, a16z crypto’s managing partner Chris Dixon said in an interview with Unchained that they asked the crypto project for rebranding to avoid confusion.
At the same time, Dixon mentioned that he likes to see experimentation with AI agent bots and permissionless innovation.
Ai16z was launched in October 2024 on Solana as a decentralized AI trading fund. Powered by AI agents, the fund uses its flagship AI operating system, Eliza, to make investment decisions based on data analysis.
At the end of 2024, the project announced plans to build its custom blockchain.
ElizaOS’s native token holders collaborate with the platform's AI agent, “Marc AIndreessen,” to propose and vote on investment ideas, token buybacks, and other strategic initiatives. The project gained significant traction following its launch and the introduction of its open-source framework, ElizaOS, which simplifies the creation of AI agents.
As of January 2025, tokens associated with AI agents have a total market capitalization of $7.3 billion according to CoinMarketCap. Specifically, the AI16Z token, which began trading on Solana in October, has reached a market cap of $650 million.
However, the cryptocurrency has experienced a 53% decline in the past 7 days, currently trading at around $0.59.
