Hyperliquid Plans to Airdrop HYPE Tokens Before HyperEVM

Hyper Foundation announced the upcoming airdrop of HYPE, a native token for the Hyperliquid blockchain ecosystem. Eligible users will receive the tokens in their wallets at the Genesis Event, with the final date to review and accept the event’s terms set on November 11, 2024.
In their announcement, Hyperliquid mentioned that the crypto asset will play a central role in the blockchain’s consensus mechanism and Hyperliquid EVM (HyperEVM), an environment for smart contract execution.
HYPE’s airdrop is expected before the HyperEVM’s mainnet launch, currently available on the testnet.
An airdrop is a way to distribute free tokens to multiple wallets that typically belong to early users and contributors to the project. Teams have different terms and requirements for crypto airdrops.
Currently, Hyperliquid’s flagship application is the Hyperliquid decentralized exchange (DEX). It’s among the top ten decentralized derivatives exchanges by trading activity, according to data from CoinMarketCap.

At the time of writing, Hyperliquid’s daily trading volume is above $300 million, making up around 14% of decentralized DEXes.
Hyper Foundation mentions that with the launch of HyperEVM, any application built on Hyperliquid will have access to deep liquidity and native financial primitives.
