Hyperliquid’s HyperEVM Goes Live on Mainnet
With HyperEVM now live on mainnet, Hyperliquid is setting the stage for a more efficient, scalable, and interoperable DeFi ecosystem—a move that could reshape the future of on-chain financial infrastructure.
The Hyper Foundation confirmed via X that HyperEVM is now fully deployed on mainnet. Designed to merge Hyperliquid’s speed and security with Ethereum’s smart contract capabilities, this integration sets a new benchmark in DeFi performance.
Unlike standard EVM implementations that run on independent blockchains, HyperEVM operates natively within Hyperliquid’s Layer 1 environment, benefiting from HyperBFT consensus security. This ensures low-latency trading remains intact, even with expanded programmability.
At mainnet launch, HyperEVM delivers several crucial features, including spot transfers for HYPE and HyperEVM HYPE, with HYPE serving as the native gas token for EVM transactions. The introduction of the WHYPE system contract enhances DeFi capabilities within the ecosystem.
