Monad Announces Public Testnet Launch for February 19
Monad, a Layer 1 blockchain utilizing parallel execution, will launch its public testnet on February 19, introducing a new approach to high-performance blockchain processing.
This strategic phase in platform development will allow developers and users to explore its functionality ahead of the 2025 mainnet launch.
After two years of infrastructure optimization, including a closed testnet in late 2024, the public testnet will validate network stability, consensus efficiency, and transaction processing under real-world conditions.
Monad is built for high throughput, aiming to process up to 10,000 transactions per second with a block time of approximately one second. The project also integrates its proprietary MonadDb database and maintains full compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), ensuring a smooth transition for developers accustomed to Ethereum’s ecosystem.
At present, over 80 protocols and dApps are live on the network, and industry estimates suggest this could surge to 200 before the official mainnet debut. The project's financial stability was reinforced by a second funding round in April 2024, securing $225 million from Tier-1 fund Paradigm.
Monad is taking its next big step—the public testnet is live, allowing developers and users to put the platform through its paces. This open testing phase will be crucial in fine-tuning the system before the official mainnet rollout.
