Ripple CEO Says Maximalism Is the Enemy of Crypto ProgressÂ

In a recent post on X, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse shared his thoughts on maximalism in crypto.
Garlinghouse advocated for a multichain strategy, saying that he owns a handful of cryptocurrencies, including XRP, Bitcoin, and Ether. According to him, the crypto industry needs to work together to achieve many common goals instead of tearing each other down.
Referring to the possible national digital asset strategic reserve in the U.S., Garlinghouse said it needs to represent the entire industry, not just Bitcoin.
“Maximalism remains the enemy of crypto progress, and I’m very glad to see fewer and fewer folks ascribe to this outdated and misinformed thinking.”- he concluded.
Maximalism in crypto is when someone is overly focused on one coin or blockchain, like Bitcoin, and believes it’s the only one that matters.
Garlinghouse’s tweet comes in response to recent criticism surrounding Ripple’s advocacy for a multichain approach.
Recently, Donald Trump ordered the creation of a digital asset working group to explore how cryptocurrencies seized by the government in different legal actions can be used in the national financial strategy.
Garlinghouse has long advocated for a multi-asset national reserve, and his meeting with Trump sparked discussions within the crypto community.
Researcher Pierre Rochard previously claimed that Ripple is the biggest obstacle to a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. In response, Garlinghouse said the company’s efforts actually increased the chance of the crypto reserve. He also noted campaigns by Ripple focused on supporting American companies and technologies.
