Preview: On January 31, Uniswap announced the launch of Uniswap V4 across ten networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, OP Mainnet, Base, BNB Chain, Blast, World Chain, Avalanche, and Zora Network.
The upgrade was confirmed in an official X post, with the Uniswap team calling V4 the most cost-efficient version yet. According to the announcement, the cost of creating new liquidity pools has dropped by 99.99% compared to previous versions.
A major highlight of the upgrade is hooks—modular plugins that allow customized trading functionalities. With hooks, developers can implement dynamic trading fees, automated liquidity management, and other advanced features tailored to specific strategies.

The Uniswap blog confirms that the entire contract code for the V4 decentralized protocol was made source-available and has undergone extensive security testing. Specifically, it has been subjected to nine audits, a security competition with over 500 participants, a bug bounty program offering up to $1 million for identifying critical vulnerabilities. So far, no critical issues have been found.
Uniswap V4 swap support is expected to roll out in the coming days (if it hasn’t already launched by the time you read this). The Uniswap team has also published a dedicated guide for developers working with hooks.
