Canada’s biggest Web3 event returns with Charles Hoskinson, Brock Pierce, and the future of DeFi, tokenization, and AI on stage.

Canada’s biggest Web3 gathering is back — and louder than ever. On May 13, Toronto will once again transform into the country’s crypto capital, as the Blockchain Futurist Conference 2025 takes over downtown with a power lineup of innovators, founders, regulators, and dealmakers from across the decentralized world.
Presented by Untraceable, the 2025 edition continues its established mission: to integrate cutting-edge technologies with an engaging, interactive on-site experience. In line with its futurist ethos, the agenda combines critical Web3 discussions—ranging from global regulatory frameworks to DeFi interoperability—with dynamic presentations and networking events hosted in notable historic venues.
Canada’s Web3 Moment
More than a typical industry gathering, Blockchain Futurist has, since its inception in 2013, evolved into the central hub for cryptocurrency discourse in Canada — a space where policy announcements, tech demos, and unexpected collaborations occur.
And while the conference is proudly Canadian, its focus is global. Cross-border regulation, AI-crypto convergence, and tokenization of real-world assets are some of the key narratives steering the 2025 agenda — highlighting Canada’s growing stake in shaping global digital finance.
Coupled with a fully booked venue, a comprehensive roster of over 100 speakers, and a diverse array of side events, the message is clear: Toronto is a significant and committed player in the Web3 revolution.
Who’s Taking the Stage
The speaker list reads like a who’s who of blockchain’s present and future. Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of Ethereum and CEO of Input Output, will return to the main stage for “Welcome to the Fourth Generation” — a keynote poised to blend vision with provocation.
Joining him are:
- Brock Pierce, Bitcoin pioneer and impact investor
- Marta Belcher, President of the Filecoin Foundation, in a fireside chat on tech regulation and civil liberties
- Silvina Moschini, CEO of Unicorns and Unicoin, on building financial inclusion through tokenized equity
- Justin Sun, founder of TRON, delivering a virtual welcome
- Anthony Di Iorio, Ethereum co-founder, on decentralized identity and global adoption
Other speakers include executives from Coinbase Canada, WonderFi, Tezos, Polymath, and ZDKL, alongside policymakers and advocacy leaders from the Canadian Web3 Council and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
The Big Players: Not Just in the Audience
Blockchain Futurist’s platinum sponsor list makes a statement. Bitget Wallet, Unicoin, Secret Network, and ZDKL top the bill, while Coinbase, Polymath, and DeLorean Labs lead the gold tier.
Secret Network is also co-sponsoring Privacy 2.0, a hybrid format combining AI panels with private networking — a nod to one of 2025’s most urgent topics: the intersection of cryptography and machine learning.
Coinbase Canada is doubling down on its local presence, with CEO Lucas Matheson in a headline fireside chat. Meanwhile, ZDKL is bringing Web3 commerce to the spotlight with a session on making token payments seamless — no wallets, no friction.
Beyond Panels: A Stacked Agenda
This year’s agenda proves that the future of finance is not just decentralized — it’s deeply interdisciplinary. The day kicks off at 8:00 AM with registrations and a welcome from co-founder Mahyar Akhbari, followed by panels and keynotes that stretch into midnight.
Highlights include:
- “The Future of Global Regulation”: A five-person panel uniting voices from Forbes, MarketAcross, the Canadian Blockchain Consortium, and more
- “Tokenization: Unlocking Liquidity”: A thematic thread running across sessions from Polymath, NDAX, and Milborne Group
- “UX vs Security”: A solo feature from Bitget on finding the sweet spot for mainstream onboarding
- “Can AI Agents Save Crypto?”: A provocative multi-founder panel from Kuvi.ai that digs into AI’s real utility in blockchain
The main stage will also see back-to-back fireside chats, including Charles Hoskinson’s keynote and presentations from Informal Systems, Injective, and Truflation.
What Else Is Happening
In true Untraceable fashion, the conference offers more than just a seated experience. A modern photo booth by Snaptique (yes, Web3 has selfies now) will run from 12–3PM. The networking floor itself is the Old Toronto Stock Exchange — turning one of Canada’s historical trading venues into a Web3 meet-up.
Expect plenty of after-hours connections, not least of all at the official networking party, which begins at 8:40 PM and runs past midnight.
Toronto’s Web3 Inflection Point
Blockchain Futurist 2025 is both a mirror and a crystal ball: a place where the crypto industry checks its reflection — and tries to glimpse what’s next. This year’s event makes one thing clear: the conversations shaping the future of decentralized finance, regulation, and identity are happening right here in Toronto.
And in a year where infrastructure and interoperability feel more urgent than ever, it’s the conference’s cross-disciplinary ambition that sets it apart. Legal meets engineering, AI meets DeFi, startups pitch beside incumbents — and Web3 keeps evolving.
