a16z Crypto Dominates Weekly Crypto Funding with $81 million in Deals

Crypto funding hit $144 million this week – and a16z Crypto was at the center, investing $81 million in key deals in emerging blockchain technology.
Andreessen Horowitz's crypto arm, a16z Crypto, dominated this week's venture funding, deploying $81 million across two key deals in the restaking and AI sectors. The firm's investments accounted for over half of the $144 million raised across 13 total crypto funding rounds this week.
A Look at Major Deals
The week's activity was defined by a few significant rounds:
EigenLayer's $70M Token Purchase: the largest deal of the week saw a16z Crypto purchase $70 million in tokens from the Ethereum restaking protocol. This follows a previous $100 million Series B raised by Eigen Labs in 2024, signaling continued strong investor confidence in the restaking narrative.
PrismaX's $11M Seed Round: a16z Crypto also led an $11 million seed round for PrismaX, a startup developing decentralized infrastructure for robotics and AI data. The round included other notable investors like Volt Capital and Symbolic Capital.
Ubyx's $10M Stablecoin Clearing Network: in another significant deal this week (not involving a16z), Ubyx raised $10 million in a seed round led by Galaxy Ventures. With backing from Coinbase Ventures, Founders Fund, and Paxos, Ubyx is building a network to clear stablecoins from multiple issuers.
Funding Distribution
The three largest deals – EigenLayer, PrismaX, and Ubyx – accounted for $91 million, or roughly 63%, of the week's total funding , highlighting a concentration of capital in top-tier projects. a16z Crypto deployed $928 million in 2025 across 29 deals. Weekly funding brought total crypto investments for 2025 to $9.4 billion, just $200 million below the entire 2024 total.
Current trends indicate the industry could reach $18 billion in total funding by year-end, potentially ahead of schedule. Restaking protocols, decentralized AI, and robotics data infrastructure continue attracting the majority of venture capital.
Investors are focusing on network scalability, data availability, and machine learning applications built on blockchain technology.
