Crypto community raised $54M to support Ukraine!

Cryptocurrencies and their users have always been revolving around Ukraine, even since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

On this page

If you look it up on the Internet, you can discover an impressive percentage of people who own crypto in Ukraine. In 2019 it was at 13% and in 2022 it is hard to even imagine how many Ukrainians are involved in crypto and blockchain technologies.

15%, 18%, or 20%? We can’t give you an accurate number but it can be proudly declared that cryptocurrency and Ukrainians get along very well. In the past years, Ukraine has become the motherland for the biggest staking provider in the blockchain industry – Everstake; one of the most talked about PoS blockchains in the industry – NEAR Protocol; highly-secure hot crypto wallet – TrustWallet; the world’s first entertainment show about cryptocurrencies – Gagarin Show; and many more.

Unfortunately, today there is an ongoing war in Ukraine. As a result, most companies shifted their focus to donating and assisting Ukrainian military forces in eliminating the enemy as quickly as possible. So who are these heroes and where did the money go? We’ve prepared a list for you.

NFT “Museum of War”

To date, the fund has already raised almost $66 million in digital assets. The NFT project consists of artwork by both Ukrainian and international artists and depicts the timeline of the events that took place during the invasion. You can read more about the NFT museum in our previous article.

Ukrainian flag sold for ETH

UkraineDAO has sold an NFT of the Ukrainian flag for $6.5 million in ETH, which makes it the 10th most expensive NFT ever sold. All the money has been donated to the Come Back Alive NGO.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

says UkraineDAO.

Their team organized both online and offline to serve Ukraine and show how charity, war relief, and evacuation efforts can be organized through DAOs. They have been featured in many major publications, including ABC, Billboard, Coindesk, The Guardian, Financial Times, The Economist, Rolling Stones, VICE, and Wall Street Journal.

Everstake donations

Previously mentioned, the biggest staking provider in the blockchain industry, Everstake, has been urging the crypto community to continue donating to the Aid For Ukraine fund ever since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. As a result, $10 million in cryptocurrencies has been donated by Everstake.

Vitalik Buterin

The crypto prodigy of Russian origin and Ethereum’s co-founder has sent 750 ETH to “Unchain Ukraine” and another 750 ETH to “Ukraine’s Crypto Fund”. Earlier, Buterin, who moved to Canada as a child, condemned the invasion. You can read more information in our previous article about Vitalik.

Where did the money go?

Almost all the donations went through the AidForUkraine fund and have been recently published online.

Every helmet, bulletproof vest, and night vision device saves the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. Thus, we must continue to support our defenders. Thanks so much to everyone from the crypto community for supporting Ukraine!

says Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has created a separate website for crypto enthusiasts who do not want to stand aside and watch Ukrainian suffer from the aggression by the Russian Federation.
