Ethereum Foundation Outlines Strategic Goals in 3 Updates

The Ethereum Foundation, dedicated to supporting the growth of the Ethereum ecosystem, has revealed organizational updates and its approach to future goals.
In 3 key updates from Aya Miyaguchi, Vitalik Buterin, Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stańczak, the Ethereum Foundation shared its long-term vision and leadership structure to help achieve its goals.
The first update, from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and EF president Aya Miyaguchi, outlines Ethereum’s mission to become humanity’s shared, ever-growing world computer.
The Ethereum Foundation’s role is to grow Ethereum’s user base while strengthening its technical and social infrastructure.
In another update, EF’s Co-Executive Directors, Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stańczak, outlined their responsibilities, which include strategic planning and overseeing operations to carry out Ethereum’s long-term vision.
They highlighted the Foundation’s key focus areas for the next 12 months:
- scaling the mainnet,
- enhancing interoperability between Layer 2s,
- improving user experience,
- boosting adoption.
The New Structure of the Ethereum Foundation’s Management
Over recent months, the EF has announced some changes to its structure and leadership. In February 2025, Aya Miyaguchi, previously the EF’s Executive Director, transitioned to the role of President.
In early March, the Foundation welcomed Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stańczak as co-executive directors.
According to the new update from the Ethereum Foundation Board, the new organizational structure separates the management team and the board to ensure balanced execution.
The EF management team consists of:
- Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz K. Stańczak, serving as Co-Executive Directors
- Bastian Aue, Co-Steward focusing on organizational strategy, hiring, and training
- Josh Stark, focusing on project execution, community, and marketing
Together, they will provide public updates on Ethereum’s plans, decisions, and any changes.
The current Board of Directors includes four members:
- Vitalik Buterin – continues to provide technical and intellectual guidance to Ethereum
- Aya Miyaguchi – helps shape the Ethereum Foundation’s vision and manages key external partnerships
- Patrick Storchenegger – handles legal and compliance matters as the Foundation’s Swiss representative
- Hsiao-Wei Wang – acts as a link between the board, executive team, and day-to-day management
Collectively, the Board sets Ethereum’s vision and oversees high-level strategies. The Board is also responsible for appointing and, if necessary, removing Executive Directors.
These updates come amid Ethereum's ongoing scaling efforts, with the Pectra update scheduled for May 7.
