Judge Orders Javier Milei to Disclose Banking Details in LIBRA Memecoin Case

The court requested that Argentine President Javier Milei and his sister disclose their bank transactions in the ongoing LIBRA fraud case.
President Milei and his sister are getting cloudy
Argentine judge María Servini requested the Central Bank to lift the bank secrecy protections of President Javier Milei in order to examine his financial transactions as part of the LIBRA memecoin investigation.
The court also requested bank records from Karina Milei – the President’s sister and general secretary – as well as from three men linked to the creation and promotion of the LIBRA memecoin: Mauricio Novelli, Sergio Morales, and Manuel Terrones Godoy. Earlier, the court ordered the freezing of their assets.
- Mauricio Novelli, creator of Tech Forum Argentina, connected Milei to Hayden Davis, one of LIBRA’s co-developers.
- Sergio Morales is a former advisor to the National Securities Commission.
- Manuel Terrones Godoy is a YouTuber.
Previously, Milei and his sister failed to attend a mediation hearing for a civil lawsuit filed by victims. Their lawyers were also absent, according to local media outlet Página 12. During the hearing, attorney Nicolás Oszust represented about 25 victims from Argentina and abroad who lost an estimated $4.5 million investing in LIBRA tokens.
In February 2025, President Milei promoted the newly launched LIBRA memecoin on his X account. The cryptocurrency quickly surged and then crashed, leading to major financial losses for investors.
Milei later deleted the post, stating that he wasn’t aware of the project’s details and had simply shared information on his page. Following LIBRA’s collapse, an investigation was launched after hundreds of investor complaints to examine the alleged fraud.
LIBRA Probe Reaches Milei as Argentina Heads Toward Elections
The LIBRA case is heating up just months before Argentina’s next national election, scheduled for October 26, 2025. With Judge María Servini now requesting President Javier Milei’s bank records, the investigation has officially reached the country’s highest office.
Milei’s party, La Libertad Avanza (LLA), recently scored a major win in Buenos Aires’ legislative elections, capturing 30.1% of the vote. This marks the first time in nearly 20 years that Mauricio Macri’s PRO party lost control of the capital, finishing with just 15.9%.
Despite the LIBRA controversy, the results suggest Milei’s political momentum is building ahead of the national midterms.
