MTV Video Music Awards 2022 will include a nomination for performance in the metaverse
Six performers, who have held their concerts on various online platforms, are already fighting for the victory in a new nomination.
Among the artists nominated for the award are South Korean BTS (performance on YouTube), Charli XCX and One Pilots Concert Experience (on Roblox), Justin Bieber (on Wave), The Virtual (on the platform of the game PUBG Mobile), and Rift Tour (involving Ariana Grande, on the platform of the online game Fortnite).
One of the reasons for the new nomination can be considered a drop in people’s interest in the Video Music Awards. According to ViacomCBS , audience interest in the show has plummeted over the past five years, and company executives decided to focus on younger and more active viewers.
The fact that nowadays, a lot of media personalities, actors, and musicians try to show themselves in the market of cryptocurrencies with the help of NFT or by performing their music pieces also helped VMA.
Thus, Soulja Boy recently recorded a “Bitcoin” track. The song lyrics talk about how he got rich by investing in cryptocurrency. As for the older artists, the other day, the Hollywood actor Sir Anthony Hopkins announced that he’s releasing his NFT collection of the 10 characters he played in the movies.
The award ceremony will take place at the Prudential Center in the United States on August 28.
