Bitcoin Cash City – a place, where you don’t need fiat anymore

There is a city in Australia where people use Bitcoin Cash more often than the Australian dollar.

The adoption of Bitcoin Cash cryptocurrency (BCH) is rapidly growing in the North Queensland region in Australia, thanks to supporters of the coin who have formed an international group called Bitcoin Cash City.

Bitcoin Cash is already the most preferred alternative payment method in the city of Townsville. All merchants in this city accept BCH alongside the local currency, the Australian dollar. Because of this, the place is now called Australian Bitcoin Cash City.

The city has almost 200,000 residents. Most of them are already used to paying for goods and services with BCH. All of them also become accustomed to using a digital wallet even more often than a regular leather one, which stores banknotes, coins, and credit cards. According to the crypto mass adoption rate per 1000 inhabitants, Townsville has left behind the capital city Canberra and the biggest cities of a millionaire – Sydney, and Melbourne.

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) – is a fork of Bitcoin with a capitalization of more than $2 billion, which ranks #27 in the Coinmarketcap ranking. Some consider Bitcoin Cash is more advanced than Bitcoin because of its faster transactions and cheaper transaction fees.

Having a record rate of crypto mass adoption per capita, every year Townsville is hosting a crypto conference, where people can share their experience, achievements, and crypto life hacks. Due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the last event was canceled, but everyone hopes to resume it after all pandemic restrictions are lifted.

Mass adoption of crypto by the merchants of Townsville

In the city of Townsville, over 200 shops, gas stations, and local companies are accepting crypto as a form of payment. In this city, you can live on Bitcoin Cash without any need to use fiat. A similar situation is in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Caracas, but those are the cities with a population of more than 1 million people. Here we have a precedent of widespread crypto usage inside a much smaller place in terms of area and population.

Do you want to buy a burger or a cocktail with Bitcoin Cash? You should go to Alt Brew at Stanley Street! Alt Brew recently changed hands, but the new owner decided not to break the tradition of its predecessor and continued to accept BCH.

Townsville guests don't need to worry about whether they can pay for their stay in crypto. They can book a room in a local hotel, City Oasis Inn, and pay with BCH. By the way, you can find a lot of positive reviews about this hotel on Tripadvisor.

To complete the topic of transport, an interesting fact is that with Bitcoin Cash you can even buy a helicopter tour over the city. Townsville Helicopters has its fleet of helicopters which it rents out, accepting BCH as a form of payment.

Townsville has become a paradise for Bitcoin Cash holders and a unique place where you can buy any kind of goods or services with BCH. This process takes place without any participation of the traditional banking system with its high acquisition fees.

Using Bitcoin Cash, small and medium-sized businesses can significantly reduce commission costs, thus increasing sales thanks to the wide variety of business tools, and the profitability of their business. Bitcoin Cash payments have already begun to displace Visa and Mastercard cards in many Townsville establishments. In this city, Bitcoin Cash was able to quickly become an alternative currency for local merchants and customers.

Conclusions

The gradual adoption of cryptocurrencies as a new form of money beyond the control of banks, governments, and regulators is growing in many places around the world. Using cryptocurrencies, shop owners, businessmen and consumers are getting all the benefits of a more efficient form of payment compared to one currently offered by banks.

The spread of information about crypto and its acceptance by an increasing number of new users and merchants quickens the worldwide recognition of virtual assets as more modern supra-national payment tools than national fiat currencies.

The city of Townsville in Australia is a bright example of crypto mass adoption. Now, several hundred shop owners and businesses have willingly accepted alternative payment systems of p2p transactions without intermediaries. It would be desirable to see more and more similar places emerging every year.
