We've previously discussed virtual games that allow you to escape reality, embody a hero, and even burn extra calories. In this article, we will look at additional intriguing VR games that might catch your interest.

The Walking Dead Onslaught

Developer:  Survios

Platforms: PlayStation VR, Oculus Home and Steam VR

The Walking Dead VR is a captivating survival game based on the first season of the TV series “The Walking Dead.” In this game, you play as Abel, a new character navigating a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies after a war with the Saviors.

Players must traverse infected zones, protect other survivors, and relentlessly destroy zombies. You can wield 24 different types of weapons, ranging from machetes to grenade launchers, and are tasked with collecting valuable weapons, food, materials, and other resources for the community. The ultimate goal is to save and rebuild the town of Alexandria for future generations.

This storyline may not be groundbreaking or innovative, but the game will likely appeal to teenagers and those looking to quickly expend some adrenaline. Despite its straightforward premise, it has proven extremely popular, amassing over 23 million downloads and generating $155 million in revenue over eight years of its existence.

Before you begin the download, make sure your computer and VR headset comply with the necessary specifications.

Here's what you'll need:

  1. Windows:
  • 64-bit Windows 10
  • Intel Core i5-4590 / AMD FX 8350
  • 8 Gb RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 290

Ghostbusters Rise of the Ghost Lord

Ghostbusters VR is a virtual reality shooter released in October 2023 by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 5. The game draws inspiration from the “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” film and serves as a VR continuation of the 2016 Ghostbusters game.

Players can engage in either solo or multiplayer missions, with a strong emphasis on team collaboration and the option for four-player co-op.

Players step into the shoes of one of four new ghost hunters: Trevor, Phoebe, Gary, or Callie. Their task is to explore and cleanse various sites of ghostly presences, including the new Ghostbusters headquarters in New York and San Francisco, an old mine, a derelict mansion, and a crumbling shopping mall. In classic Ghostbusters style, they'll confront a formidable final boss known as the Ghost Lord, where victory over the spirit world is impossible without some AI assistance.

The hunters are equipped with various ghost-catching weapons and gadgets, including Proton Packs, ghost traps, and PKE meters.

Game Details:

  1. Supports up to four online players with PS Plus.
  2. Requires PlayStation VR2 (not compatible with other headsets).
  3. A comfortable gameplay experience requires a play area of 6 feet 7 inches by 6 feet 7 inches for free movement:
  4. Minimum play area of 3 feet 4 inches by 3 feet 4 inches for seated play.
  5. ESRB Rating: Teen (includes scenes of violence).

For those who cherish the Ghostbusters series or seek an atmospheric VR game that's engaging but not overly complex, Ghostbusters Rise of the Ghost Lord is an excellent choice.

Audica VR

If you're ready to flex your muscles, turn your attention to Audica on the PlayStation, Steam, and Oculus platforms. This dynamic first-person rhythm game is crafted by Harmonix Music Systems, renowned for their work on Rock Band and Dance Central. As a space ranger, you'll fend off enemy attacks with your dual blasters, syncing each shot, bomb detonation, and evasive maneuver to the beat of the music. Miss the rhythm, and you'll find yourself at the losing end.

The game features a rich array of soundtracks, with something for everyone, whether you prefer the gentle flow of a waltz or the brisk pace of hip-hop. Audica VR combines dance and shooting elements and offers various levels of difficulty, making it accessible for both seniors just starting out and experienced, physically active players.

You can enjoy the game solo or compete with friends in either local or online multiplayer settings.

Audica System Requirements:

  • VR headset: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, or PlayStation VR;
  • Motion controllers: Two SteamVR or PlayStation Move controllers;
  • Operating system: Windows 10 or PlayStation 4;
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350;
  • RAM: 8 GB;
  • Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290;
  • Free disk space: 10 GB

For those in search of a new and engaging rhythm game, Audica VR promises to be a captivating experience (verified firsthand).
