Adin Ross & the Crypto Scam: How the Streamer Got Caught Up in Controversy

allegations against Adin Ross and the details of his crypto scam - The Coinomist

From NBA 2K to GTA V, Adin Ross became one of the most recognizable figures in streaming. But not all headlines are worth celebrating—his name is now entangled in one of the biggest crypto controversies in influencer history.

The MILF Token Disaster

From Streamer Twitch Hype to Crypto Chaos—What Went Wrong?

In May 2021, Adin Ross introduced his 75,000 Twitch viewers to MILF Token, a project marketed as a golden investment opportunity with NFT giveaways and high-profit potential. To drive engagement, he announced a $10,000 token giveaway.

What seemed like just another crypto endorsement soon turned into something much more complicated—and far less profitable for those who bought in.

MILF Token’s price collapse was swift and brutal—falling from $0.001 to $0.00006, leaving Ross’s audience with crippling losses.

The setup was all too familiar: a classic Pump-and-Dump. A low-value token is artificially hyped, creating a buying frenzy. As new investors flood in, early insiders cash out, draining liquidity and triggering a price crash. The result? Ordinary traders are left holding the bag.

Adin Ross in the Hot Seat

As MILF Token’s value plummeted, Ross’s reputation took a hit too. His fanbase flooded social media with accusations, calling him out for pushing a project that left them with losses. The outrage spread fast, with Twitter and Reddit at the center of the storm.

I trusted you, bro. I thought you were different,

– Disillusioned Twitter user.

With tensions rising, Ross had no choice but to go live on Twitch and address the situation head-on:

That MILF Token s…t I did a while back, I already told you guys to not buy that s…t. I got paid a bag to do that s…t. Like, I don’t give a f…k. I hope none of you guys actually bought it.

Rather than putting out the fire, Ross’s dismissive remarks only fanned the flames. To many, his response sounded like a confession—an admission that his earnings mattered more than the trust of his community. The backlash was swift: fans turned critics labeled him a “sellout” and “just another influencer chasing easy money.”

Some claimed they had lost substantial sums, having bought in based on Ross’s hype. While no official loss figures exist, MILF Token’s trading volume surged from $1 million to $19 million, signaling that a wave of investors had been left holding worthless assets.

Meme coin hype is booming! But how do you tell a future success story from a rug pull? Our comprehensive guide reveals how to invest wisely and avoid scams.

Ross Denies the Scam, But the Internet Isn’t Letting It Go

Faced with mounting criticism, Adin Ross downplayed the MILF Token controversy during an appearance on The H3 Podcast. He claimed it was nothing more than a poorly chosen endorsement, not a scam. His key defense? Since the token didn’t pump before crashing, it couldn’t have been a Pump-and-Dump.

But Coffeezilla—YouTube’s most relentless crypto sleuth—wasn’t buying it. His deep dive into the scandal exposed facts that told a much different story.

Expert Opinion: What’s Next for Influencers Promoting Crypto Scams?

Financial analysts are sounding the alarm—influencers promoting unregulated crypto projects are walking straight into legal trouble:

Regulators are cracking down on influencers who push unregistered securities without disclosing their financial interests.

This isn’t just speculation—Shaquille O’Neal and Kim Kardashian have already been sued over their involvement in questionable crypto ventures. Meanwhile, the UK’s FCA is actively penalizing influencers, issuing fines and legal warnings to those backing unlicensed financial schemes.

With accusations swirling and evidence against him mounting, Adin Ross doubled down on denial. He brushed off suggestions that his very public feud with RiceGum—another influencer tangled in crypto controversy—was a convenient distraction from his own scandal.

Unapologetic and defiant, he fired back at critics on Twitter:

People think this s—t fake so I can take minds off of a crypto scam which I never did, haven’t done any scams. So STFU.

By the time Ross attempted damage control, it was too late—his credibility had already taken a major hit.

Many felt betrayed, accusing him of pushing a risky investment onto followers who lacked the financial knowledge to navigate crypto’s pitfalls. But it wasn’t just the scam—his aloof, dismissive reaction only made things worse, leaving fans questioning whether they had ever meant anything to him at all.

More Scandals Unfold

How Far Will Adin Ross Go for Money?

First, it was MILF Token. Now, it’s rigged gambling.

In 2023, Adin Ross’s name surfaced in yet another controversy—this time involving fraudulent bets on Stake, a popular online gambling platform.

During a court dispute with former bodyguard Anthony Nails, leaked messages suggested that Ross had been paying NBA 2K players to intentionally lose matches—allowing him to cash in on strategically placed bets.

Though Stake has yet to respond, this latest revelation has further damaged Ross’s reputation, solidifying concerns that he is willing to manipulate both his audience and the system for personal profit.

Just as the gambling controversy began dominating headlines, Adin Ross found himself in another legal mess.

His former bodyguard, Anthony Nails, filed a lawsuit claiming that Ross owed him $263,000 in unpaid wages and had violated California labor laws.

Ross quickly retaliated with a countersuit, arguing that Nails was never officially employed by him.

Instead of resolving the dispute, the case further exposed the chaotic, unstructured nature of Ross’s financial dealings, adding yet another scandal to his growing list.

Why Did Adin Ross Gamble with His Reputation?

With a reported net worth of $16 million in 2024, Adin Ross hardly needed to take such reckless financial risks. Yet, his behavior suggests an obsession with quick and easy money.

He thrives on controversy, and controversy is profitable,

a media analyst noted.

Was he just blind to the dangers, assuming that shilling a scam token was nothing more than a harmless promotion? Other influencers had done it without consequence—so why not him?

Maybe Ross thought he was playing the system—but what if the system was playing him?

Crypto-Powered GTA 6 Server

Even after crypto controversies and gambling accusations, Adin Ross is doubling down on blockchain—this time in GTA 6.

His latest project? A roleplay server where players earn in-game crypto that can be converted into real-world money. But there’s a catch—if your character dies, your wealth is wiped out.

Some fans love the concept, while others see red flags. Given Ross’s history with risky financial ventures, many are asking: Is this the future of gaming, or just another way to make money at his audience’s expense?

Adin Ross’s ambitious crypto-powered GTA 6 server has the potential to change gaming as we know it—but only if Rockstar doesn’t shut it down first.

Legal experts warn that without an official partnership, the project may not survive past its announcement phase.

Is this the next evolution of in-game economies, or just another crypto-fueled pipe dream? We analyze Rockstar’s history, past legal actions, and what this means for the future of decentralized gaming.

So is this the future of gaming or just another fan-driven fantasy that Rockstar will shut down before it starts? We break down the rumors, the risks, and what Rockstar’s silence really means.

Is Adin Ross Running Out of Second Chances?

Scandals. Outrage. Headlines.

Adin Ross has turned controversy into a business model, capitalizing on backlash and monetizing every misstep.

But even the most die-hard fanbases have breaking points. Trust, once shattered, can’t be repaired.

Will Ross’s next scandal be the final nail in his career’s coffin, or will he once again flip the narrative and emerge untouchable?
