Crypto Discussions on X Today: Samson Mow believes Bitcoiners are capitulating, Musk has beef with crypto influencer and more
On this page
CEO of JAN3, Samson Mow, has emphasized that the gold price is on the rise, with many Bitcoin enthusiasts giving up on the mother-of-all-cryptos as a result. While Bitcoin is indeed trading at just below $85 000, and gold continues to make gains, some believe that the capitulation talk is premature.
Here’s our recap of the most popular topics discussed on X today.
1. Samson Mow on gold vs Bitcoin
Prominent crypto commentator Samson Mow compared the current market dynamics between gold and Bitcoin.
In his post on X, Mow noted that while gold is experiencing a rally, some Bitcoin enthusiasts appear disengaged in times of high volatility.
“Gold is rallying and I see Bitcoiners capitulating,” he said.
At the same time, Mow asserted that the gold rally is temporary and praised Bitcoin's potential, adding, “Bitcoin's next leg up will put this gold rally to shame.”
Some commentators challenged Mow’s statements, saying that Bitcoiners don’t capitulate just because gold outperformed Bitcoin for a few months, prompting Mow to make another tweet on the subject.
“A nation’s sovereign gold holdings cannot endure through a loss in kinetic warfare. A nation’s sovereign Bitcoin holdings can,” he wrote.
2. Crypto Rover praises Bitcoin hashrate
Crypto YouTuber and commentator, Crypto Rover, revealed that the Bitcoin hashrate has hit 1 ZH/S.
In his post on X, he noted that “that’s 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 hashes per second”, showing a graph with increasing hashrate and adding, “good luck stopping that!”
Some commentators were quick to jump in, commending the development while also noting that you don’t reach ZH/s unless “energy networks have fused with Bitcoin’s core logic,” adding that “sovereign actors have already begun collateralizing national hashrate, security budget exceeds the incentive to attack—forever and fiat decay is now so advanced, that the cost to rebuild trust is being outsourced to code.”
“Bitcoin isn’t stopping and the world is recalibrating around it,” the user wrote.
3. Scott Melker weighs in on SEC vs Ripple case
Crypto expert and influencer Scott Melker commented on the ongoing legal struggle facing Ripple.
“U.S. court of appeals pauses Ripple vs SEC appeal regarding securities violation lawsuit. SEC given 60 days to provide status update,” he tweeted, reminding the crypto community that the case isn’t fully over just yet.
Ripple has consistently argued that XRP must not be classified as a security, with the SEC dropping its legal case against Ripple in late March.
Meanwhile, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has indicated potential ‘loosening' of crypto and stablecoins guidelines. The new Chairman of the SEC Paul Atkins is also considered to be more crypto-friendly than his predecessor Gary Gensler.
4. Kaleo calls crypto “wild”
Crypto commentator and creator of the LedgArt Project, Kaleo, believes that crypto is as wild as ever, as another project effectively crashes.
In a new post on X, he showed a graph dubbed “base is for everyone/WETH market cap,” adding that he left for “the gym for two hours and I miss a major L2 launching and then effectively rugging a new meme” and concluding that “BASE isn't for everyone.”
Commentators were quick to agree, saying, “ The crypto world is too wild, and I’m FOMO-addled and procrastinating BASE is really picky!” Another user sarcastically added, “What a time to be alive!”
5. Musk has beef with crypto influencer over pregnancy
Tesla CEO, head of the DOGE initiative, and Dogecoin unofficial CEO, Elon Musk, has beef with crypto commentator Tiffany Fong.
According to the Wall Street Journal, he asked her over DM to have a baby with him. But she turned him down.
After Fong revealed his request, he scolded her and unfollowed her on X. Her earnings on Musk’s platform dropped significantly after she made $21,000 in just two weeks last November.
Neither Musk nor Fong commented on the article at the time of writing. Musk recently offered Ashley St. Clair $15 million and $100K monthly support to keep quiet about their son.
