ZachXBT Uncovers Hyperliquid Whale Behind $20M in Illicit Crypto Profits
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT shared an analysis of the alleged identity of a Hyperliquid whale who profited around $20 million through illicit trading activity.
ZachXBT found that from January to March 2025, a trader opened multiple highly leveraged positions on the Hyperliquid and GMX platforms. These are high-risk trades speculating on the future price of cryptocurrencies.
Before Donald Trump’s crypto reserve announcement, the trader opened a large ETH and BTC long position with 50X leverage and profited $10 million.
Next, the trader opened a large BTC short position with 40X leverage and profited $9 million.
Through further investigation of interconnected transactions on Roobet, Binance, Gamdom, and other platforms, ZachXBT identified the alleged Hyperliquid whale.
A key clue in the investigation was how the trader signed an on-chain message. Specifically, they used the X account @qwatio and made $20 million on GMX and Hyperliquid.
ZachXBT replied to @qwatio’s post, which used the MELANIA memecoin as an avatar, stating he planned to share information about the scam publicly. The account denied the claims but deleted the posts afterward.
Looking into the ties between the X account and the address behind the transactions, ZachXBT discovered connections to phishing sites. Further inquiry from Scam Sniffer, an anti-scam solution, revealed that the Hyperliquid whale received fees from phishing sites in January 2025.
The address also received $17.1K in January 2025 from another phishing victim before their wallets were tracked this month.

ZachXBT’s Investigation Led to William Parker, a Man from the UK
Through tracing transactions, ZachXBT found that the funds were withdrawn from Solana casinos, one of which reported that the funds came from an input validation exploit on a casino game. The casino also shared a Telegram account that had been used to negotiate with the exploiter, but the account has since been deleted.
By gathering information from publicly available sources and communicating with a party that received payment from the Hyperliquid whale, ZachXBT was able to reveal the name of William Parker.
It turns out that the Hyperliquid whale has a criminal record.
In 2024, William Parker was arrested for stealing around $1 million from two casinos and was sentenced in Finland. Media reports from the early 2010s show he was involved in online fraud. Earlier reports identify him as Alistair Pakover, but he later changed his name to William Parker.
It is abundantly clear WP/AP has not learned his lesson over the years after serving time for fraud and will likely continue gambling.
– ZachXBT concluded in the last message of the thread.
Given Parker's past and his recent actions, it’s likely that he’ll face more legal trouble soon. His history suggests he could end up in prison again.
