The move comes as part of the tabloid’s transition from print to digital journalism, supported by a $109 million (100 million Euros) plan to boost earnings, according to The Guardian.
Starting in July, approximately 200 jobs will be cut, with the company informing employees via email that they will unfortunately be parting ways with colleagues whose roles will be taken over by AI and automated processes in the digital realm.
The company stated that traditional roles like editors, print production journalists, proofreaders, photo editors, and assistants will no longer exist like they do today.
