Linea is an L2 zkEVM blockchain, developed by Consensys (the company behind the well-known MetaMask wallet). Notably, its development has been in the works for nearly five years.
Linea's testing phase involved more than 5.5 million unique wallets executing over 46 million transactions. The testnet period brought considerable enhancements in Linea’s performance, cost efficiency, and user engagement.
The roll-out of Linea promises accelerated throughput and transaction fees reduced by a factor of 15 compared to Ethereum’s mainnet.
ConsenSys is expected to fully open Linea during the Ethereum Community Conference in France starting from July 17.
