Over 400,000 users lost a total of $2 billion. Özer initially fled to Albania but was arrested in August 2022 after Interpol issued a red notice.
In the aftermath of this massive exit scam, exchange founder Faruk Fatih Özer, along with his older sister and brother, have been sentenced to 11,196 years, 10 months, and 15 days in prison, accompanied by a 135 million lira fine.
Despite the charges, Özer maintains his innocence, claiming that “Thodex was just a company facing bankruptcy.”
