In Sweden, there's an alarming trend of attackers deliberately
assaulting wealthy Bitcoin holders in their own homes to extract secret
phrases from their wallets and steal their digital assets.
So
far, there have been at least two violent robberies following this
pattern: victims were bound and tortured until the criminals gained
access to their assets. In one incident, a middle-aged couple required
urgent hospitalization via medical helicopter.
Crypto
enthusiast Eric Wall believes that criminals meticulously scour social
media for potential crypto-affluent individuals, then easily obtain
their home addresses and tax information thanks to Swedish laws on
public access to such data.
Wall,
who has long left Sweden, has urged affluent individuals to enhance
their personal security or move to another country, as the police have
yet to arrest any perpetrators.
