“Obviously if we find a major issue or something crazy before then, we can always cancel,” mentioned Tim Beiko, who leads protocol support at the Ethereum Foundation.
It's noteworthy that this isn't the developers' first attempt to plan the rollout of this test network; previous tries have not borne fruit. The team also cautioned that they are in the process of setting up new test networks, Sepolia and Holesky, though these preliminary timelines could easily shift.
