A developer, known by the pseudonym REKTBuildr, investigated the Ledger Live software, revealing that the app tracks its users and gathers data about them.
According to REKTBuildr's findings, Ledger Live keeps tabs on the applications installed on a user's device. The developer tried to switch off the remote tracking feature but was unsuccessful in his attempts.
It's important to note that even for those using a Ledger hardware wallet, the Ledger Live software is required at least once for initial setup.
Additionally, REKTBuild highlighted that Ledger wallets have introduced a recovery function that retrieves private keys from a secured chip. However, he pointed out the uncertainty around whether these keys could be inadvertently accessed.
Despite this, some users might find this method of safeguarding private keys favorable, so it's not entirely justified to be overly critical of the company's new feature.
