French AI developer H has raised $220 million, including investments from venture capitalists, to establish the next generation of artificial intelligence. Among the investors are notable companies like Amazon, Samsung, and even Google's technical advisor, Eric Emerson Schmidt.
The startup is the brainchild of former Google DeepMind researchers who had been discreetly advertising and negotiating their project with investors. Their goal is to create an AI model that can tackle complex tasks, plan its own actions, and reason through potential problems.
The H team’s vision of creating a large action model to automate business tasks has the ability to be transformational across all industries
said investor Philippe Botteri.
H has recruited around 25 AI engineers but has not revealed specific financial details. Nonetheless, Business Insider reports that investors had initially planned to purchase 40% of the shares, with the remainder provided as convertible debt to safeguard their investments.
