Uber, renowned for its ride-hailing and delivery services, has announced that it will be launching an AI-driven chatbot assistant (GPT-4o) to assist its drivers with real-time, useful information. Scheduled for an early 2025 release in the U.S., the assistant is designed to simplify tasks and provide relevant insights to drivers.
Initially, the chatbot will focus on electric vehicle-related questions, such as helping drivers choose the right EV, finding nearby charging stations, and explaining the advantages of electric cars over gasoline vehicles. Future updates will expand the assistant’s range of topics.
Drivers can access this feature through Uber's app, with the AI assistant providing location-specific, personalized answers. Uber has committed to regular updates to ensure the chatbot evolves alongside driver needs.
While the number of supported languages remains unconfirmed, Uber's reliance on OpenAI’s large language model suggests that the assistant could handle up to 50 languages upon launch.

Moreover, Uber is introducing financial rewards for EV drivers with high ratings who agree to share their experiences with others interested in transitioning to electric vehicles.
These updates were unveiled during a recent Uber presentation focused primarily on climate action. As part of its global strategy, the company also introduced an option for customers to automatically choose an electric vehicle when booking, though this feature is currently limited to select U.S. cities.
