Bitcoin 2025
For many crypto enthusiasts, 2025 is about one question: will Bitcoin reach new highs? Galaxy Research analysts predict Bitcoin will exceed $150,000 in the first half of the year and could test $185,000 in Q4. Their head of research also suggests BTC could claim 20% of gold's market capitalization.
This growth is expected to be driven by Bitcoin's growing recognition as a store of value, with more companies adopting BTC as part of their reserve diversification strategies.
Another notable 2025 prediction from Galaxy Research: five Nasdaq 100 companies and five nation states will announce the inclusion of BTC in their balance sheets or sovereign wealth funds.
While the U.S. government is not expected to purchase Bitcoin outright, it may formalize a reserve using BTC already in its possession. Expanding this Bitcoin reserve could become a topic of discussion.
Ethereum 2025
What about the leading altcoin? Galaxy’s head of research, Alex Thorn, predicts ETH will trade above $5,500 in 2025. He attributes this to potential regulatory easing for DeFi and staking, which could encourage corporations to experiment with proprietary L2 networks, primarily built on Ethereum.
Overall, analysts anticipate L2s will drive more economic activity in 2025 than alternative L1 blockchains.
The report also suggests the ETH/BTC ratio may dip below 0.03 before recovering. Thorn expects the ratio to exceed 0.06 by the end of the year, signaling renewed strength for Ethereum.
