President Donald Trump referred to Stargate as the largest initiative for AI infrastructure development to date. The company will begin with $100 billion in initial capital, with plans to secure $500 billion in total funding over the next several years, creating an estimated 100,000 jobs in the process.

Infrastructure gaps—spanning data centers, cooling systems, and dependable power grids—have long hindered AI development. While Oracle is a major U.S. data center operator, its ability to expand depends on the financial backing that SoftBank can provide.
Sam Altman has been outspoken about the need to develop chip production capabilities and build cutting-edge data centers. He has also urged the U.S. government to invest in these efforts, framing them as essential to national security and maintaining AI leadership in the global race, particularly against China.
