Netflix Sued Over the Biggest Heist Ever DocumentaryÂ
In December 2024, Netflix released a documentary about the $4.5 billion Bitfinex hack from 2016. Now, the company is facing a lawsuit from Heather “Razzlekhan” Morgan’s lawyers over the film.

Razzlekhan pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering in 2023 and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Her husband, Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein, was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
Morgan is set to begin her federal prison sentence on February 4, 2025, for her role in laundering funds connected to a notorious multi-billion-dollar Bitcoin heist, which serves as the basis for the documentary.
According to SCENE media hub by Decrypt, Razzlekhan’s lawyers argue that Netflix and Library Films, the company behind the documentary, violated California's two-party recording laws and have accused them of defamation.
They also claim the companies violated the privacy of guests at Ilya and Heather’s wedding, filming the ceremony without their consent.
“We attended a wedding with no idea that we would later appear in a Netflix documentary,” Morgan’s attorney, Serena Wu, told Decrypt.
In another cease-and-desist letter, Morgan’s lawyers point out parts of the documentary they argue are false and defamatory, including claims that she and Lichtenstein bought stolen passports, debit cards, and other ID documents off the dark web.
