Kyiv police announced on July 29 the arrest of four suspects in the murder of a 29-year-old foreigner who possessed bitcoins valued at nearly 7 million hryvnias (~$170,000).
The perpetrators had meticulously prepared for the crime. They monitored the victim’s home, waited for him to arrive, and then ambushed him around midnight.
They abducted him to an abandoned building, coerced him into transferring his bitcoins, and then killed him.

To hide their crime, the criminals altered the car’s license plate and appearance and buried the victim’s body in a forest. They managed to convert the stolen bitcoins into cash.
According to the National Police of Ukraine’s website, the accused now face life imprisonment.
