Dean Norris, recognized for his portrayal of Hank Schrader in Breaking Bad, reported that his X account was compromised by hackers to promote the counterfeit meme coin DEAN.

The actor made it clear to his followers that the coin was “a complete fake scam” and urged them to ignore any announcements made in his name.
Norris explained that he rarely uses his X account and only noticed the hack when friends began informing him about suspicious behavior. He later learned that the scam had caused several individuals to lose money.
The X crypto community was baffled by how hackers obtained a video showing Norris supposedly endorsing the token. It seems the scammers used Cameo to commission the video under a false pretense.
The scam included a follow-up tweet with a doctored image of a notebook, plus a video where Norris says,
Hey, it’s me, Dean, it’s January 25th, I’m declaring it’s real.
One user referred to it as “one of the most believable hackings/scams” they had seen.
The frequency of celebrity account hacks on X is increasing, particularly in the wake of the meme coin craze. Last year, even accounts tied to the Trump family were hacked to promote another fraudulent cryptocurrency.
“These scams are evolving into more complex schemes. Extreme caution is necessary when interacting with ads that appear to be from celebrities,” warns Ivan Dikalenko, analyst at The Coinomist.
