Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has asserted that the survival and growth of the crypto industry are no longer dependent on Bitcoin. He argues that newer technologies have significantly outstripped Bitcoin in functionality.
“Bitcoin needs the industry to survive and sure as hell needs the exchanges and all the other infrastructure because it’s not self-sufficient in that dimension. But, the industry doesn’t need Bitcoin anymore to survive,” Charles emphasized.
While he still sees Bitcoin as the digital equivalent of gold and a leading investment asset, he warns that this position could change rapidly, as seen in other industries slow to adopt innovation.
Hoskinson urges Bitcoin developers and the community to modernize its blockchain to maintain competitiveness in the dynamic cryptocurrency industry.
