Itaú Unibanco, a Brazilian bank, has announced that its BTC and ETH trading services are now accessible to all clients.
The bank introduced its Ion investment program in December 2023, initially offering BTC and ETH trading to selected clientele. This service has since been extended to more than 3.5 million users of the Ion app.
Instead of using third-party providers for cryptocurrency storage, Itaú Unibanco has developed its own custodial system with assistance from Liqi, a tokenization project. According to Brazilian central bank regulations, each client will receive a personal digital wallet.
Itaú Unibanco also plans to expand the range of cryptocurrencies available for trading in the future.
