Linea’s ERC-20 Token Set for Q1 2025
One of the key initiatives set for early 2025 is the launch of a native ERC-20 token that will enable users to pay transaction fees without depending solely on ETH. With a similar model successfully implemented by Starknet, this move adds a new layer of utility to the Linea ecosystem.
Linea’s early adopters, many of whom have demonstrated high engagement by completing quests and staying active on the network, are speculating that the new token will be distributed via an airdrop.

Next-Level UX and Security Enhancements
Linea is launching Linea Bridge UI V2, integrating external cross-chain bridges, with Across as the first addition. To protect users from front-running and other MEV-related exploits, the platform is also introducing a Private Transaction Pool to enhance transactional security.
Linea’s roadmap for 2025 prioritizes efficiency, including removing the six-hour SNARK proof finalization delay, optimizing L1 transaction costs, and reducing verification times to enhance overall throughput.
By 2027, Linea plans to cut block generation time to 0.25 seconds, a move that will drastically improve transaction speeds and network responsiveness. The platform’s scalability objectives include reaching 10,000 TPS in the short term, with an eventual increase to 20,000 TPS, ensuring its competitiveness in the evolving blockchain landscape.
Decentralization in Motion
In 2025, Linea will begin integrating Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), expanding the validator pool and decentralizing network control. By 2027, the system aims to remove all entry barriers, becoming fully permissionless, where anyone can contribute to consensus.
Committed to openness, Linea actively invites its community and developers to join discussions on future changes via its official channels.
