WhatsApp is testing the Meta AI chatbot among its user base in India and some yet-to-be-revealed regions. Remarkably, more than 500 million of WhatsApp’s 2 billion users worldwide are in India.
Meta, the corporate parent of WhatsApp, has verified these tests, although it has limited them to a select group of users. Should these trials be successful, WhatsApp will grant the AI bot access to its vast database of Indian users.
Meta AI directly competes with ChatGPT, offering similar functionalities but based on distinct models. It can generate textual responses to user queries and craft photorealistic images from detailed text descriptions.
Additionally, Meta recently announced it will soon release a new open-source language model named Llama 3, aimed at replacing its existing technologies.
