The decentralized exchange landscape is set for a major upgrade with the official announcement of PancakeSwap V4. This latest version of the protocol introduces a series of enhancements, drawing inspiration from the strides made by Uniswap V4.
A key feature of this upgrade is the introduction of hooks – external contracts designed to enhance the functionality of swaps and liquidity pools. This opens up possibilities for dynamic fee structures, specialized oracles, and more, offering a flexible framework for users and developers alike.
PancakeSwap v4 also heralds the introduction of the cutting-edge Liquidity Book AMM, in addition to the widely adopted CLAMM design, which adheres to the X*Y=K formula.
Additionally, the code for PancakeSwap v4 will be released under an open-source license. The project is also launching a developer incentive program with a pool of $500,000.
The launch of PancakeSwap v4 on the Ethereum and BNB Chain networks is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024.
