The agreement obliges developers to implement TON blockchain solutions for connectivity, authentication, and payment capabilities, impacting Telegram’s 950 million active monthly users. Current projects must also integrate TON Connect by next month’s end.
As of now, TON is the exclusive non-fiat option for paying for Telegram services like Telegram Stars and Telegram Premium subscriptions. In the past, the token witnessed a sharp increase in value when developers rolled out the advertising platform and announced mini-apps with crypto payment features.
After laying foundational groundwork over the last years, TON is now ready for explosive growth in 2025. The re-energized, deepened, and exclusive partnership with Telegram is an important step in our roadmap,
stated Manuel Stotz, president of The Open Network Foundation.
Telegram developers have already announced the tokenization of emojis, stickers, and exclusive gifts—a step likely to bolster the TON token’s value further. The token’s use for paying third-party developers and channel owners underscores its central role in Telegram’s evolving ecosystem.
To ease the transition for mini-app developers, the TON Foundation has introduced additional rewards for those who switch to the new framework ahead of schedule. Stonitz stated that standardizing operations on a single blockchain will enhance the user journey, simplifying both registration and interaction with the platform.
