A Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT owner, nicknamed Crumz, narrowly
avoided a scam orchestrated by an impostor posing as Forbes editor
Robert LaFanco. The scammer approached Crumz for a supposed interview
about BAYC.
During the Zoom call, the impostor urged Crumz to click a button to
allow access to record the interview. Later, he was bizarrely asked to
fetch a banana for a themed NFT photo.
Suspecting
foul play, Crumz stayed vigilant at his computer, apprehensive that the
fraudsters aimed to gain remote access and potentially pilfer his
digital assets.
