In a landmark decision today, the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine voted to amend the Law “On Postal Communication.” This marks the introduction of a novel term in the country's legal framework –”digital postage stamp.”
These
innovative “stamps” will primarily serve as pieces of visual art, not a
means of payment for postal services, as one might think.
«Considering
the elevated interest and excitement surrounding Ukrainian postage
stamps, transitioning them into NFT format is an innovative and
necessary step. It opens new opportunities for the development and
popularization of national philately in the digital world, especially
among those familiar with blockchain technology,» representatives from Ukrposhta stated.
Furthermore, the company's CEO has committed to making the inaugural NFT stamp a charitable endeavor, with all proceeds going to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
