CZ Faces Unverified Interpol Red Notice Rumor
An unverified rumor recently emerged, claiming that an Interpol Red Notice had been issued for Binance founder and CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao. The source of the rumor was an encrypted message posted by Twitter user Cobie, who is well-followed within the crypto community.

The message was shared in a series of letters and numbers using the SHA-256 hash function, the same cryptography that secures many cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin.
Spokespeople for Binance and Interpol did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the matter. However, CZ later denied these rumors, attempting to alleviate concerns within the crypto community.
This news comes shortly after Binance and Zhao were sued by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission over allegations of “willful evasion” of U.S. laws. The lawsuit has sparked fears that a pending U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit could soon follow, along with potential criminal charges against the company and its CEO.
According to the Interpol website, a Red Notice is “a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.” It is important to note that the individuals targeted by a Red Notice are wanted by the requesting member country or international tribunal.
