Emirates is one of the most advanced airlines so it comes as no surprise that the company is in the works of integrating Web3 projects. It was also announced that the Emirates pavilion at Expo 2020 will be transformed into a hub that will bring together creative minds that work in the realm of NFTs and the metaverse.
UAE’s digital transformation has been on the rise lately with various virtual asset initiatives and the incorporation of artificial intelligence in the country’s economy. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who is also Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group stated on April 14th: “Dubai and the UAE are blazing the way in the digital economy, having a clear vision supported by practical policies and regulatory frameworks in areas such as virtual assets, artificial intelligence, and data protection.”
Emirates is not new to merging its business with new technologies. Five years ago Emirates launched VR technologies on its website and app – an immersive 3D, 360-degree view of its onboard cabin experience where people can explore a 3D seat map before booking their seats. Also in 2021 Emirates released a VR app on the Oculus store, which provides users a full tour of the A380 aircraft and Boeing 777-300ER Gamechanger aircraft.
