The luxury car manufacturer has announced a new trial, offering the optional beta feature to owners of vehicles equipped with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) interface in the United States. Interested Mercedes drivers can join the beta program by saying “Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program” or signing up through the manufacturer’s “me” application.
The German manufacturer stated that ChatGPT would enhance its current voice control feature by expanding its capabilities:
“While most voice assistants are limited to predefined tasks and responses, ChatGPT leverages a large language model to greatly improve natural language understanding and expand the topics to which it can respond.”
The AI-powered voice assistant can provide comprehensive answers to driving-related and unrelated questions. User data will be anonymized and analyzed in the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud system.
The beta program is expected to last three months.
