According to The Information, Nvidia has postponed the release of its next AI chip, the Blackwell B200, by several months due to a design flaw. The company has already informed key buyers, including Microsoft and other cloud providers, about the delay.
The issue was identified late in the production process, requiring more time to fix than usual. However, Nvidia representative John Rizzo denied this, stating that production will commence in the second half of 2024 as planned, with the chips becoming available for sale next year.
Beyond that, we do not comment on rumors,
added John Rizzo.
The Blackwell B200 is touted as the world's most powerful AI chip and a direct successor to the popular H100 model, which is widely used by AI developers for cloud computing. The success of the H100 has significantly contributed to Nvidia's market capitalization, reaching $2.69 trillion and making it the most valuable company globally.
