Which companies and trading chains accept crypto as payment

More and more countries allow crypto as payment. Some of them, like El Salvador and Japan, have accepted cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin in particular, as a means of payment on a par with the local currency.

On this page

Around the world, you can count tens of thousands of companies seeking to accept cryptocurrencies as payment on a par with fiat money. Thus, they expand the list of payment instruments and increase the numbers of potential buyers. Let’s take a look at the most famous brands.

Microsoft

Allows users to top up with Bitcoin and order Windows software or any Xbox content. Microsoft became one of the first global brands that began to accept the Bitcoin cryptocurrency as a standard payment method in 2014. Unfortunately, this option is not available for all regions.

Apple

The Apple Pay application, thanks to a partnership with BitPay, accepts bitcoin and 12 other cryptocurrencies for payment. In addition to BTC, this payment provider supports such cryptocurrencies as Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Litecoin, and others, as well as dollar-pegged stablecoins such as DAI, USD Coin, Gemini Dollar, Paxos Standard, and Binance USD.

Amazon

The world's largest online retailer allows you to pay for purchases with cryptocurrencies using the purse.io service or with gift cards from CoinCards or Bitrefill. Purse.io processes payment in BTC through the Lighting Network with automatic crypto-to-fiat conversion, so these transactions will be instant. Up to 15%+ discount from purse.io will be a nice gift that motivates buyers to use cryptocurrencies to pay for goods on Amazon.

eBay

Starting with 2015, eBay items could be purchased through the payment aggregator Braintree. Partnered with Coinbase, it processed crypto (BTC) payments on par with all possible other payment instruments and systems. But since 2017, something has gone wrong. This option has been removed. Maybe until the broader crypto mass adoption.

Tesla

Starting in 2021, Tesla began accepting cryptocurrency as payment for electric cars and related services. Considering Elon Musk’s special love for Dogecoin, it is possible to pay using this cryptocurrency. The procedure is explained in a separate section on the support page (FAQ). It was only possible to pay with bitcoin for a short time, later it was removed, leaving only Dogecoin. Regarding Bitcoin, Musk said that as soon as 50% of the coin mining migrates to renewable energy sources, he will allow accepting Bitcoin as payment once more. Meanwhile, BTC holders can only wait…

Burger King

This network’s joints accept cryptocurrencies in partnership with the NOWPayments service in various countries. This provider has built payment gateways with over 150 cryptocurrencies. In Venezuela or Germany, paying with bitcoins for food at Burger King has become commonplace. Also, this network, in partnership with Robinhood, arranges promotions for the distribution of Bitcoin, Ethereum and Dogecoin to members of its Royal Perks loyalty program. To participate, you need to place an order through the network application for at least $5 and have a Robinhood account.

AT&T

This telecom provider has been accepting cryptocurrencies since 2019, partnering with BitPay, just like Apple. Through the mobile application or web-account of this payment 3PP (third party processor) users choose the necessary cryptocurrency for the calculation and indicate the recipient of the payment – AT&T.

Xiaomi smartphones can now be purchased with cryptocurrency, but only in one country. Xiaomi's official retailer in Portugal – Mi Store Portugal – has started accepting cryptocurrency for payment on its network. The choice of cryptoassets is significant – Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether and Dash. This service became possible thanks to cooperation with the Swiss company Utrust. Utrust's own token (UTK) is also accepted for payment.

Also, many networks accept crypto via WhitePay, including Techno Hedgehog and Stylus. Previously, it was also possible to pay with cryptocurrency in the Citrus retailer chain, but the owners decided to remove this type of payment for some reason (we hope that it will only be temporary).
