Sparky or Teddy? Meet Hamsters who Compete for Crypto Bets
The world has already seen Shiba Inu, frogs, and meme stars like Chad. Now we have hamsters. And not just a dedicated hamster coin called HAMS, but also real hamster races with crypto bets.

Well, hello there, reader. How do you feel about betting on real hamsters with crypto and stablecoins?
If that question didn’t put you off— and you don’t work for PETA— then here’s a service that could be of great interest to you.
Called Hamstergg, it is designed to attract people who enjoy watching real hamsters try to outpace each other.
And betting.

The service allows you to bet on them in real time using Binance’s stablecoin BUSD or its native HAMS coin, available via Uniswap. It is trading at $0.645333 at the time of writing.
The hamsters are real, and so are the bets. The creators explain that the hamsters run on a track, and the first hamster to cross the finish line wins, with races taking place every hour.
The stream takes place via the Twitch service.
We decided to check out the race ourselves, and here’s how it went.
First, we opened their site via this link, which shows you the streams, the chat box, and the bets.
In our case, the contestants included hamsters called Oliver, Teddy, Buster, Sparky. Since we arrived early, we had the chance to observe the bets and listen to soothing music.

When the wait was almost over, all four hamsters appeared on the screen. Then the race kicked off.

However, if you think that something exciting happened right away, then we hate to disappoint you. During the entire “race”, the four hamsters were mostly chilling, eating, and attending to their business.
The users noticed this and weren’t particularly happy, begging Teddy and Sparky, in particular, to step up their game because some of them ‘have to pay their rent tomorrow.”

The action finally started to take place when Teddy got up and moved, adding a sense of excitement to the “race”, with Teddy “triumphing” as a result as he was the only one to run back and forth.
The camera immediately turned off and judging by the announcement, Teddy-the-triumphant skipped the next “race.”
Even though not much action is happening during those races, the community seems to be enjoying them. While Hamsters GG’s Twitter handle only has just over 2100 followers for the time being, the team has already unveiled their plan, pledging to build a sustainable and thriving ecosystem.
Furthermore, some users like L are already attached to some of the contestants. So, when Sparky, as part of a meme, got “suspended” for “doping”, the person wrote “nah, free my bro Sparku, he ain’t do nothing wrong.”

While there is a mild entertainment element to this initiative, we also feel that it’s appropriate to remind all that hamsters weren’t created to race hourly because someone needs “to pay their rent.” So, if this little buddy CK managed to win only 8 races, then in the words of Succession’s cousin Greg “so it be — so it is.”
He’s just a hamster enjoying his short life.
