Trump’s NFTs: Still a Thing?

Trump’s NFTs: Still a Thing?

Nothing is ever truly over with the Donald. His NFT collection is just an example of that.

Remember when former US President Donald Trump released his NFT collection?

We do.

But if you think that that’s where the story ended, then you’re dead wrong.

As a matter of fact, it was just the beginning as many events followed after.

Such as the former US President’s indictment with 34 felony counts in March.

For many, this kind of event would be disastrous – but not for the Donald as following this announcement the minimum price of his NFT collection soared by 30%.

With the events unraveling this way, it shouldn’t be a surprise that in April, Trump announced the release of his second iteration of his NFT trading cards.

“I am pleased to inform you that, due to the great success of my previously launched DIGITAL TRADING CARDS, we are doing it again, SERIES 2, AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW,” Trump wrote.

He also boasted that he made $4.6m from the sale of his original NFT batch even though the price for his collection had plummeted by then.

Then came the collection by his wife Melania.

In late June, she launched a set of NFTs inspired by the Independence Day. Dubbed the 1776 Collections, it uses the pics of landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore attached to animated placards priced for $50 apiece.

As a result of this launch, the interest in Trump's NFT collection increased again, with sales going up by 300%.

Yet, even here the story doesn’t end.

Another spike took place following Trump’s indictment on charges, according to which he allegedly attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election. As a result of this, the trading volume for Donald Trump Trading NFT Cards experienced a whopping 780% increase. To that end, the OpenSea data for the past seven days shows that the floor price of Trump’s NFTs has gone up by 24%, with sales soaring by 34%.

What’s next for Trump?

While Donald Trump’s NFT collection is definitely still a thing, garnering attention for reasons both right and wrong, it is difficult to full predict how the situation will unravel.

The charges leveled against Trump include serious offenses, such as Conspiracy to defraud the United States, two counts of Tampering with a witness, victim, or informant, among other things.

What’s more, these charges are being publicized before the Presidential election set to take place in November 2024, which prompted Trump to write, “Why didn't they bring this ridiculous case 2.5 years ago? They wanted it right in the middle of my campaign, that's why!”.

Regardless, his collection continues to be promoted on his site, per which it appears that everything is either sold out or will sell out soon.

This includes a potential dinner with Trump at his estate in Florida called Mar-a-Lago,  originally built for entrepreneur Marjorie Merriweather Post in the 1920s. In order to get ticket to this dinner, you need to purchase 47 digital cards.

“Just buy 47 cards!” the offer reads.

It is unclear whether the dinner has already been held or how many of them Trump is planning to have in principle. According to a tweet made by @Hudah_Idiot, on June 15th the date for this type of activity is yet to be announced.

That said, we believe that should this event take place, it will not be a tedious one. More so since previously Trump reportedly showed off secret documents at Mar-a-Lago dining room.

Then again, nothing is ever boring with the Donald so we are waiting for his next moves. NFT ones included.
