Sean Chen, who worked on Marvel and DC characters, became the legendary art director of 247 Comics. He illustrated a two-year stint on Wolverine and a three-year stint on Iron Man.
Chen chose to abandon traditional comics and instead produce his own Web3 projects, even though publications featuring his images have sold more than 10 million copies. He was joined by other well-known artists who wanted to “break old habits by building on the blockchain,” including Justin Jordan, Wil Quintana, Brian Ching, and others.
247 Comics aims to revolutionize the experience of reading and collecting comic books. The team intends to publish the artists' work using cutting-edge technology and novel partnership models. A special role is given to the common publishing platform of the content studio. It should make the process of creating narratives more democratic. The economics of intellectual property will be altered as well, making creativity profitable for both creators and collectors.
The success of any 247 Comics creation is solely dependent on the members of the community. 247 Comics is not afraid to challenge conventional ideas about comics, as well as the opinions of other industry representatives. Sean Chen commented on the switch to Web3 and NFT in an interview with Decrypt:
I think most people with a brain can kind of see this is where things are going.
