Scroll Alpha Testnet: A Comprehensive Guide
Scroll is an L2 scaling solution for Ethereum based on zkRollup technology. The team is developing zkEVM in collaboration with the Privacy and Scaling Explorations (PSE) group at the Ethereum Foundation and plans to launch the mainnet by the fourth quarter of 2023.

The zkEVM is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) featuring zero-knowledge (zk) technology. An increasing number of projects have been adopting this method recently, such as the zkSync Era, proving its effectiveness.
After the successful Pre-Alpha Testnet, which engaged around 100,000 users, the Scroll team introduced the Alpha Testnet and a convenient website to evaluate the potential of their Layer 2 solution.
How can one participate in the testnet?
When engaging with new projects, it is always recommended to create a new wallet and connect it to the corresponding networks. The same principle applies here. To test Scroll, add Goerli Ethereum and Scroll Alpha through the official website or manually:

Next, you'll need test ETH on Goerli. You can utilize the Alchemy faucet or another option of your choosing. Afterward, transfer the asset across the bridge to Scroll Alpha in a matter of minutes, depending on network traffic, and use it as usual. Information about transactions and wallets can be found in the Block Explorer.
As a test, you may transfer funds back to Goerli, but if you lack sufficient ETH for such experiments, it's advisable to abstain from doing so. During these transfers, errors might arise. In such instances, clear your browser cache and cookies, or reduce the amount of ETH being transferred, as using the maximum sum may likely result in an error due to zkRollup technology.
In the Pre-Alpha, the token exchange was tested on a specially-designed application, but the team now employs the Uniswap V3 fork to assess DEX functionalities. You can conduct several swaps between ETH and WETH, all of which transpire rapidly.
For those intrigued by the Rollup Explorer, it is also available, containing comprehensive information: batch index, status (Precommitted, Committed, Finalized), transaction count, blocks, and more.
