The first Ukrainian forum on distributed ledger technologies from IEEE (UADLTF) was held with support from the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. This endorsement attracted a wide array of blockchain experts from both local and international circles. Notably, speakers from WhiteBIT, Europe's largest cryptocurrency exchange rooted in Ukraine, also took the stage at this significant event.
WhiteBIT has recently unveiled its own blockchain, the WB Network, solidifying its status as a leading developer in IT and cryptocurrency infrastructure. In a recent conversation with The Interviewer, Volodymyr Nosov, the founder of WhiteBIT, shed light on the company's remarkable growth in active client numbers despite a ban on all russian users following a full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022. This demonstrates WhiteBIT's capacity to sustain its leadership and uphold its principles.
In addressing the global challenges of Web3, such as data security and personal privacy, WhiteBIT developers have identified potential risks users might face, including data compromise, theft, and identity breaches. To mitigate these risks, they’ve implemented the unique “digital soul” technology on the WB Network blockchain, providing a robust solution to these common issues.
The WB Soul initiative aims to recreate an anonymous digital identity for its owner. This digital ID is primarily constructed from the user account attributes on WhiteBIT. Hence, WB Soul “synchronizes” with the account status while maintaining user data confidentiality on the public blockchain. Crypto enthusiasts might draw parallels between this concept and the well-known ZK Proof (Zero-Knowledge Proof) technology, which allows verification of data validity without direct data disclosure. However, WhiteBIT has taken a notable stride forward by crafting a fully personalized architectural framework.
“Modern blockchain solutions have the potential to revolutionize how personal data is managed, providing users with greater control and privacy. This paradigm shift is poised to serve as the cornerstone for transforming interactions between users and organizations in the global digital landscape,” a WhiteBIT representative emphasized.
In addition to addressing cybersecurity and data privacy issues, the forum explored a diverse range of topics. These included digital transformation in healthcare, innovations in the energy sector, the advantages of blockchain in food supply chains, and more. The lineup of speakers included prominent figures such as Alex Bornyakov, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine; Maksym Semenchuk from Web3Institute; Craig Sellars, co-founder of Tether; Michael Terpin from Transform Ventures, and several others.
WhiteBIT stands as one of Europe's leading crypto exchanges. As of November 2023, it boasts a user base of over 4 million. The exchange processes an average daily trading volume exceeding $2.5 billion and supports more than 350 trading pairs, 270 assets, and 10 national currencies.
Furthermore, WhiteBIT has established significant partnerships. The exchange is an official partner of the Ukrainian national football team and football clubs like Barcelona and Trabzonspor and collaborates with Lifecell, FACEIT, and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. In collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, it launched a chatbot to aid Ukrainians overseas. Some of the platform's latest milestones include the rollout of its own blockchain, the WB Network, and the WhiteBIT Launchpad – a platform dedicated to voting and launching new crypto projects.
